Travel-Sickness; Vertigo (Giddiness)

Vertigo can be defined as a feeling of rotation or movement of one's self or of the surroundings.

Some people suffer from vertigo, with nausea and vomiting, while travelling by a ship or a vehicle. This is called travel-sickness. Other causes of giddiness include: ear-disease, head injury, sudden changes in blood-pressure or a disturbance of blood-supply to the brain.

Homeopathic Treatment

Check if most symptoms of any of the below-given remedies match with most of your symptoms:

Cocculus 30 : Vertigo while travelling by a vehicle or a ship; a sensation of emptiness and pain in the back of the head - can't lie on the back; nausea and vomiting with a metallic taste in the mouth; trembling of head and the limbs.

Nux vomica 30 : Vertigo, especially when travelling In strong sun-shine; brain feels turning around in circles; pain in the front of the head with a desire to press it against something; nausea in the morning; vomiting with much retching - stomach region very sensitive to pressure; frequent ineffectual desire for stools.

Petroleum 30 : Vertigo, which is better lying down but worse on rising; the person feels a cold breeze blowing on the head; the back of the head feels heavy, as if filled with lead; headache, which is better by pressing upon the temples (sides); nausea with accumulation of water in the mouth.

Tabacum 30 : Vertigo while travelling, forcing the person to keep the eyes closed; constant nausea, with a feeling of sinking in the pit of the stomach; sensation of a band around the head; vomiting of (feaces-like) foul smelling substance.

Notes:

  1. If you have to travel frequently and if you suffer from vertigo, nausea or vomiting every time, take a dose of the selected medicine about half an hour before you step out of the house next time. This will, almost certainly, act as a preventive. However, if symptoms still crop up after commencing the journey, take a dose every fifteen minutes till the attack has been aborted.
  2. If none of the above-listed medicine seems matching, or if the selected medicine does not help, consult a competent homoeopathic doctor.
