Cataract

Cataract is an old-age disorder in which the lense present inside the eye gradually loses its transparency and turns opaque, causing progressive diminition of vision.

Calc carb 30 : Senile cataract; vision diminished, as if looking through a mist; big (dilated) pupils. A tendency to contract colds, profuse perspiration, especially of the head during sleep and a craving for eggs and indigestible things are other features of this medicine.

Calc flour 30 : Cataract from gradual hardening of the lense; flickering and sparks before the eyes. Cracked skin of the palms, varicosed (swollen, tortuous) veins and stony hard glands of the body are other pointers to this remedy.

Phos 30 : Senile cataract; Everything seems covered by a mist or a veil; the person sees better by shading the eyes with the hand; black floaters before the eyes; green circles around light; while reading, the letters appear red. An oversensitive nature and an irresistible craving for cold foods/drinks are other features of this medicine.

Sil 30 : Cataract, especially affecting the near vision; letters get mixed up when reading; recurrent styes; obstinate constipation and an intolerance of cold weather (in fact, the person desires warm clothing even in summer) are other pointers to this remedy.

Notes:

1. The remedy may have to be continued for a long time (2-3 months) for the effects to become evident.
2. Besides the internal medicine, instillation of 'Cineraria maritima succus' homoeopathic eye-drops 3-4 times a day might help.
